Jewish Community

St Martin’s has fantastic links with Shenley United, the local Synagogue. As well as Remembrance Day which is an important focus of the year, we meet with Rabbi Alan regularly to plan wholesome events for the local community.

These have included initiatives around the Queens 90th Birthday, happiness talks at the Orchard Tea Rooms and Mental Health First Aid courses.

Laughter and joy are the hallmarks of St Martin’s partnership with the Jewish Community. We celebrate common ground and learn enthusiastically about each others differences.

These have included deeper understanding and appreciation for Hanukkah, Christmas, Passover, Harvest, Pentecost and the Festival of Purim.

Simple walks, social action, fund raisers and guided talks are scheduled in as a priority, as well as attending special Christian and Jewish meetings. Including the annual event hosted by the Archbishop of Canterbury and the Chief Rabbi at Lambeth Palace in London.

Our partnership with the Jewish Community is important to us at St Martin’s and we enjoy investing time in developing our special relationship.
