Baptisms/Christenings
Your child is precious to you and precious to God and us at St Martin’s Church. You want the very best for them and so does God. You want them to make right choices in life, for themselves and for others. Well, you have come to the right place because we at St Martins want this for your child too!
A Baptism (also known as a ‘Christening’) is just the beginning of this and so much more. Over the years to come, it’s a faith journey you or your child will share with those around you and your newly acquired church family! If you’re bringing a child for Baptism, you can support them by:
Being there for your child to talk to about the bigger questions of life – questions about hope, faith and love.
Praying for your child through the ups and downs of their faith journey.
Showing them practically how to make those good choices in life.
Helping them to learn more about their Christian faith, through their church and in other ways.
Booking a Baptism
If you would like to book a Baptism/Christening in St Martin's Church, please come along to a Sunday 10am service and speak to Rev’d Sarah Marshall, or alternatively email her at shenleyvicar@outlook.com. We are very flexible and accommodating.
When can you have a Baptism?
We normally hold Baptisms on a Sunday, either during the 10am service (we recommend this for a really warm welcome into the church family!) or we can also arrange a separate service usually at 12pm.
What is involved?
If you wish to book a Baptism then Sarah will meet with you and talk you through what the service involves and
what this means as you or your child to begin this journey of faith.
We also recommend that you attend St Martin’s church regularly so that you feel part of our vibrant family!
We also would like you to explore this fantastic website, churchofenglandchristenings.org about Christenings/Baptisms which will answer many of your questions from the comfort of your home. Enjoy!
